  • Pre-Kindergarten Program Bald Creek will become a PreK-5 School next year.  The old Bald Creek Day Care building will be the new Bald Creek PreK Program.  We are excited to add this new addition to our great school.   • New Quilt For Bald Creek Elementary BCES LOVES their new Quilt Square! Please look over as you travel Hwy 19E and see the beautiful quilt square located on the east side of the building. This project began five years ago as Ms. Duncan was doing a math lesson on quilt squares with her 3rd grade class. She invited Ms. Barbara Webster, renown local artist and quilt square project coordinator, to visit and educate her students on the real life math connections and problem solving skills implemented in this cultural art form. From there, a committee was formed and lead by Ms. Hunter and Ms. Peterson.   • Bald Creek Students Celebration A+ School On Friday Feb. 19th, Bald Creek Students celebrated being named a NC A+ School. Eight students from grades 3-5 wrote essays and demonstrated public speaking skills as they spoke at a school wide assembly on "What It Means to Attend an A+ School and What It Takes to Be an A+ Student". 5th grade student Skylar Wheeler spoke, “To be an A+ student, it takes hard work, dedication and studying. You can do anything as long as you believe in it". 2014-15 Teacher of the Year Laura Davis, 2015-16 Teacher of the Year Lori McCourry, Teacher Assistant of the Year Joyce Hensley and Teacher Jessica Duncan also spoke to the students.   • Bald Creek School Receives National TI Distinguished School Banner   On October 29th, BCES Teachers traveled to Greensboro for the National Title I Distinguished School Nominee Honorary Luncheon to be presented the 2015 School Banner. Bald Creek was recognized  along with six other NC Schools as being the state's highest performing schools. This is the second consecutive year of receiving this award in the category of "High Performance with sustained growth over a substantial period of time".  Principal Sherry Robinson stated, "This is an exceptional group of educators who demonstrate excellence and commitment on a daily basis. These top honors our school is receiving are due to their dedication and professionalism, along with great students and outstanding parents."
